Brittonito - A Journey to the Bright Town

fficeffice" />

Fellow Gritian Ambassadors to farway lands, friendly readers, and dearest King of Gritos – I, Brittonito, faithful member of the Army of the 12 Gritos, send you greetings from the land of the British!  Let me explain to you my journey to my new home and of the people I have met:

I was chosen to go to the Headquarters of the famous Teddy Liberation Front to be welcomed by kind teds and the Queen of Yayness, Mademoiselle La Fille Ska and her Sam.  I was very excited to go there, and a little scared too because the ffice:smarttags" />Britain they live in is quite far from Gritoland.  After a long talk with the King, who told me that I must be a good ambassador for him and Grangrito who made growly noises and said I must be a good Grito, I hid in my special travelling case.  I was sent by train to a big town with many many boats, and one of them took me to the British coast.  On this big boat I climbed out of my case and walked on the top of the boat, they call this the “deck”.  There I looked for Leonardo and Kate but I guess they were not on this boat at this time.  I was met by a nice man, who said he was a “Royal Male” and he took me to play blackjack and poker with other nice men.  I think maybe Grangrito would be angry and growl at me for this (because they let me drink beer with them) but I am learning new things and trying to understand a new culture so it is probably allowed.  And this man told me that he was sent by my King, so I was not afraid.

Once the big boat got to England I climbed back into my case and the “Royal Male” took me in his bag to the place where I would meet la Fille Ska.  She lives in a place called “Bright Town  But no!  When we got to the Headquarters we banged and banged on the door but no-one came!  I was a sad Grito then.  I thought she did not want me and that maybe I had come to the wrong house.  The Royal Male told me that he would leave her a message telling her I was waiting for her and then he took me back to stay at a big building.  There we talked about the town I had come to, where there are many happy people – and I am to live next to the big sea!!!  This is very exciting for me, and if I look very very very hard I think I could see Gritoland across it.  This made me happy when he put me back into my case to sleep.

The next morning the nice Royal Male came to get me and he tells me there is a pretty lady and a tall man waiting for me.  Yayness! (I practiced for when I would meet La Fille Ska so she knows I am a friend)  It was her!!  And her Sam!!  She jumped up and down (Negrito tells me that she does this when she is happy so I was pleased!) and gave me a big kiss.  They took me back to their Headquarters where La Fille Ska said the teds were waiting in the window to meet me.

The Teddy Liberation Front wait at their Headquarters - FOR ME!!

We went in and there was lots of shouting of joy and jumping and cheering!  I met the nice Albert who is the ted in charge of the TLF and William (who met my King!) and all the others.  We talked of the special secret missions that the TLF are doing and I was made an official member of their group, I am very proud.  I swear to the King that I will be a good ambassador AND a good Teddy Liberation Front Grito!  I was also given some nice presents:  a little hat made by The Sam like the ones boating men wear and a very cool scarf in black and white wool.

Presents are good things...

The Sam says I must not put my hat near water so I will not wear it when it rains.  The scarf was made by la Fille Ska and as it is black and white maybe that makes me a Ska Grito?  At least I can be incognito now because my scarf in true Gritian colours is very obvious.  I shall wear it when I go out in disguise.

Grangrito forgive me but there was much celebration on my first night, with a drink called “Gin” mixed with “Tonic” (it is bitter with many bubbles and together almost as good as Cognac!)

Let the celebrations begin!!

After this, some of The Sam and La Fille Ska’s friendly people came to see us, because they had heard a famous person had arrived in Bright Town – me!  It was wonderful, many drinks, and loud headbanging musics and then dancing in a discotheque!!  So exciting!!!  We arrived at a good hour at a bar called the Hobgoblin.  La Fille Ska says this is a good pub with good beers, and cool peoples.  They all had massive spikey hairs and painted arms and earrings in their noses and lips!

Brittonito and the Clockwork Orange Fille Ska - what is she looking at?

This was a little strange for me to see but that is the variety of life which is good!  After this our party went to a club called the “BG”, we were let in VIP – no charge for Ambassadors and their friends! – and we drank *ahem* a lot of beers.

This is expensive?  Is this reassuringly expensive?  Let me try it!

Hmm, what is this one?

Mmm, these are tasty, I think!

We danced to music by Madonna and Nirvana and Sean Paul and even Madness!  It was in fact madness in the club, too many beers and too much dancing made a very sleepy Grito!  I ended up falling down and my new friends decided to take me home to sleep.

Oh no I am drunk!  And maybe so is he!

This morning my head is bigger than it should be, I think it is bursting from my ears!  My kind hosts let me sleep very late and then gave me lots of water and aspirin for my pain.  I am in shame of what Grangrito will say when he is reading this!  But this was a special night for me and I will soon discover why this place is named Bright Town, I think!

So I am very happy to be here.  La Fille Ska says to me we will do lots of exciting things in this place, see pretty people, liberate brave teds, eat good foods and drink good wines (and gins and tonics!) so I cannot wait for it to all happen!

A certain grito should learn not to mix his watery warm english lager with his absurdly pricey French bottles. I also neither recommend listening to Madonna nor, as you appear to be contemplating, diving into a pint without due care and consideration. You are mighty small, young bear.
You are certainly doing the British reputation little good with your predominantly alcohol-fuelled photography. Get the bear a healthy milkshake!

oh oh oh, lucky ska is famous!
*seethingly jealous*
(in a nice way)

Quips - to be honest, hosting a Grito is a lot of hard-work, as he is used to the lap of luxury over in Gritoland...our little flat in the south is not quite the same for him I am incredibly chuffed to have him tho!

And as for you, Mr Scissors, he was only following your example that night, and sadly, you went a bit far and had to go home early hehe, love you really! xxx

What is all this ? I don't know, but it certainly makes me smile ! As for the daring teddy hanging by his toes looking out the window...he deserves a medal for such courage. Bravo Gritos and Teds...power to you all.

*waves to Brittonito*
Hello, I am glad that Mr Royal Mail helped you on your journey. I have met this gentleman and he suffers terribly from mood swings. Sometimes he can be helpful and kind and other times he is prone to throw a Grito to the ground or try to push him through a very small gap in a door called a Letter Boxer.
I would advise staying with the bears of teh Teddy liberation Front until you learn to control your drinking. They are very experienced in life and will help you a great deal.

glad to see you got such a arm welcome from the teddies! Be careful at those parties, never know when someone might try and take advantage of a cool Grito like yourself! Specially in the spiffy scarf!
